- The industry had a turnover of 330 billion euros in 2008 and employed about 750,000 people.

- The railway industry earns 60 percent of its turnover of 10 billion euros in the field of exports.
- The German shipbuilding and offshore supplier industry had a turnover of 13 billion euros in 2008.
