2015 Chevrolet Impala Bi-Fuel To Run On Gas And CNG

The 2015 Chevrolet Impala Bi-Fuel

For 2015, the critically-acclaimed Chevrolet Impala sedan will come in an all-new version: Bi-Fuel. Unveiled yesterday in Washington D.C. by General Motors CEO Dan Akerson, the car will run on both gasoline and compressed natural gas (CNG).
Natural gas is cheap and fairly easy to find in the U.S. The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is around $3.36 right now, according to AAA. The average price for a "gallon" of CNG is around just $2.10, according to CNGPrices.com.

Despite an abundance of CNG filling stations, however, it's still not quite as easy to find as regular gasoline. Chevrolet designed the Impala Bi-Fuel to burn both fuels to ensure the driver is never far from a place where they can fill up. Chevrolet said the sedan will have a 500-mile driving range.

The Impala joins the Honda Civic in having the rare distinction of being a CNG sedan produced directly by a manufacturer.

GM did not reveal the price of the Impala Bi-Fuel, which is slated to go on sale next summer. The current Impala starts at $26,860
