Bajaj Wins 7-Year-Long Patent Lawsuit Against LML
A legal battle between India's Bajaj Auto and the Italian scooter manufacturer LML has finally reached an end. The court case was started over 7 years ago and the judges have finally reached a verdict, with Bajaj being the winner.
The case started after Bajaj has been granted a patent for a two-stroke intake system which reduced emissions and at the same time provided better fuel efficiency.
LML claimed that the patented technology was not new, and was instead a minor derivative from existing similar technologies, and it only meant a minute improvement over them.
In the end, the courts of law took 7 long years to shed some light in the matter, and still LML said they will still appeal the ruling at a higher court. What if all the money both manufacturers spent with trials would have gone into research...
Robrock BMW K100 Is as Raw as It Gets
When a master blacksmith and metalworker and a BMW K100 meet, great things come into being, and even though some might argue that Marc Robrock's machine is a bit too extreme, we openly admit it stole our heart right away.
While we believe that the K100 was never among the beautiful bikes, Marc was way more drastic, as he firmly believed that this motorcycle was the ugliest ever built, by his standards. And this was the very reason behind him choosing to rebuild one according to his wishes.
Stripping it down to the bone and quickly getting rid of all the unnecessary parts, Marc Robrock cleaned the '84 K100 and started to rebuild it. Rims, fork, frame, all were sandblasted and powdercoated, and the tinkering started.
It took Marc 5 weeks to rebuild the new parts and put them together, including the aluminium subframe and custom seat, fenders and rear cowl. Aftermarket bars came in place and were modified to fit the new build and with everything in place, Robrock went on to get the bike certified for road use.
As strict as the German regulations are, it took another 6 weeks until Robrock could ride his raw BMW K100 legally. BikeEXIFgot wind he plans to get rid of the old square exhaust and we hope the new one is at least as radical as the rest of the build.
Honda Introduces the 2014 CRF250R
The 2014 Honda CRF250R brings quite a host of changes to the quarter-liter off-road machines, destined to make it swifter and more nimble, increasing both fun and performance at the same time
.This bike rolls with a new aluminium chassis, a new swingarm and revised architecture. The rear subframe is now lighter, yet no compromise was made: thanks to the short-can dual exhaust system, the mounting points moved towards the center of the bike. The cans are now lighter and the tail of the bike is lighter too.
The whole engine was updated and received a new head, piston, higher compression ratio, dual-timing injection, resulting in more midrange grunt for a quicker bike altogether. Works-style brakes and revised fully-adjustable forks are a great complement to the Honda Progressive Steering Damper (HPSD), providing precise directional control in all portions of the track and on all terrains.
The 2014 Honda CRF250R will be available from September, and we'll announce the price as soon as Honda decides on it.
April 2013, the Best Month for BMW Motorrad Ever
BMW Motorrad declares that April 2013 was the best-ever month in the 90-years history of the German manufacturer.
The Bavarian manufacturer reported an 11.5% sales increase over the same month of 2013. 14,587 units have been delivered to their new owners during April 2013, compared to 13,088 one year before. As of April, 39,319 bikes and maxi scooters have been sold by BMW.

Following a long winter, motorcycle sales were down in the early months of 2013, but once the weather became more rider-friendly, things started to move. Heiner Faust, Sales and Marketing Vice President claims that the sales went 5% up in the first 4 months of this year, compared to the same period of the previous one, and BMW is satisfied with the figures.
The main force between the combined sales in the first 4 months has been the new R1200GS machine, accounting for a whopping 10,883 units sold, around 25% of the total sales.
2013 MotoGP: Cal Crutchlow on Yamaha and Pol Espargaro
Yamaha Tech3's star rider Cal Crutchlow, 27, decided to speak on the team's decision to advance negotiations with Moto2 pilot Pol Espargaro, brother of MotoGP CRT rider Aleix Espargaro. Given the fact that Crutchlow is the only one among the 4 Yamaha riders (Lorenzo, Rossi, Smith) with a one-year deal, he openly asked some questions.
In an interview with Autosport, Crutchlow seemed to see things in a clear light and was not nervous at all, as he said he understands how things are, and Pol's advanced discussions (now confirmed as a contract by Tech3) mean that the Spaniard will most likely take his place on the satellite bike.
Speaking on the team's decision to replace him with Pol Espargaro, Crutchlow doesn't give any reasons: “I don't know why the decision has been made, but that's Yamaha and Lin Jarvis's decision and I'll leave it up to them."
With Cal looking for a place on a works bike and his exceptional performance in 2013 so far aboard the satellite machine, it also looks like it's little (if anything at all) he could do more.
Crutchlow makes it very clear that he would not settle for anything else than a factory team, as riding a new satellite bike does not appeal to him any more.
So this leaves our brave Brit with the potential open position at Ducati, in case Hayden goes WSBK as some rumors have it, or ride the new Suzuki to glory. And since the guys from Hamamatsu said they'd have him as a rider at any time, we might just see a great future shaping in for both Cal and Suzuki.

2013 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R ABS
It all starts with a new 636cc engine long-stroke, which increases the displacement 37cc make a significant impact on real-world ride. Improved performance throughout the rpm range is always welcome when racing or sport riding, but increases low torque and mid-range also significantly improve the usability of everyday.
Thanks to the great performance of this engine, the displacement driven along the entire powerband. New intake and exhaust port shape is optimized in accordance with the extra displacement and helps provide increased performance and improved throttle response. The wider intake port near the throttle body and now split-up upstream of the intake valves.
The exhaust port near the valve wider and taper on their way to new exhaust headers. New lightweight chromoly steel intake and exhaust camshaft duration increased consumption features, plus increased intake and exhaust lift to compliment the additional displacement new engine. Revised piston crown piston increases strength and accommodate increased valve lift. A molybdenum coating on the piston skirt friction and fights help with engine break-in. New piston pin straightstiffer to help preserve the high-rpm durability. A larger airbox new features more internal volume of 12.5% ??and contributed to both increased power and smoother power delivery. New intake tract again bore the low mid range and contribute to torque features a unique design for a couple cylinder inside and out to help improve the character of the machine.
Ultra-fine atomizing injectors deliver sub-60 micron fuel droplet size, for more effective air-fuel mixing and combustion efficiency is maximized. They are the new injectors are also able to give a total volume of fuel a larger to accommodate the demands of the larger machine. More precise fuel injection Digital Tuning also improves throttle response and contributes to the reduction of emisi.Hasilnya is that the new engine not only delivers class-leading drive from the corner, it also offers superior flexibility and precise throttle control that pays big dividends when making mid -corner power adjustments or stringing together a set of curves on the racetrack or twisting backroad.
The “help” action cam as servo mechanism to pull the clutch hub and plates together and operation of the clutch plates compress under load. This allows the clutch spring tension and the total amount will be reduced, resulting in an overall decrease of 20% in an effort at the clutch lever. Cam assists also increases the maximum torque capacity of the clutch, to help cope with the extra power of the new 636cc engine, without gaining weight. Whenever re-torque is present, “shoes” this clutch cam reduce clamping force on the hub and plate surgery to help prevent rear wheel hop on a trailing-throttle and when down-shifting. A new spring plate assembly offers smooth engagement and help reduce vibration and clutch judder, and a new aluminum clutch hub is 600 grams lighter than the previous steel units.
In accordance with the racing DNA, ZX-6R also use cassette-type transmission to simplify gearing changes at the track, helping to reduce the time needed to setup the bike and allowing more time for riding. A short first gear, strong alloys and revised gear gearbox thickness increases endurance and helps cope with the extra torque generated by the engine 636cc baru.Tiga Its mode KTRC traction control system similar to the unit KTRC found on the Ninja ZX-14R winning, and programming features even more advanced than the S-KTRC system used on the ZX-10R Superbike! And new selectable power modes offer increased tuning options and more flexibility than his secondary competition.
Mode machine “Full” or “low” power can be selected by a switch on the left clip-on. New power mode allows the rider to adjust the engine power delivery to suit road conditions or assist their personal preferences. Full mode offers the performance potential of the engine. Low mode offers low-rpm power output is the same, but began to limit the power of the rpm up to the midrange and will only offer up to 80% of the maximum power of the engine. Low mode also provides a softer throttle response which is useful when conditions are slippery or riders looking to relax.
KTRC Mode 1 and 2 both prioritize maximum forward acceleration-like S-KTRC system on the ZX-10R superbike-by using complex analysis to predict when traction is available is to be compromised, and then interrupted before slippage exceeds the range of optimum acceleration. It minimizes how much power should be reduced to increase or restore the rear wheel traction and help to give a boost ahead maksimal.Hal Mode 3 allows to reduce the output of the machine all the way down to a level that will allow the rear wheel to regain grip, even on surfaces very slippery. Fine control provided by sub-throttles also produces a very natural feeling and smoother on / off transitions to help maintain traction even during extended operation under adverse conditions. This system is very effective to use minimal hardware paired with the programming software is very sophisticated. Only additional hardware required by the KTRC system is a set of front and rear wheel-speed sensors, but the overall effect of Mode 1, 2 and 3 are easy to distinguish from each other and effectively cover a variety of riding conditions.
The result is a greater tranquility began as a fork compresses and less severe changes in attitude as the chassis weight shifts to the front of the bike when braking. BP’s new SFF fork-tuned for use on a winding road. Tuning this still allows a high level of performance on the racetrack, with a significantly better response in the city and on the highway. BP-SFF offers easier adjustment, with all settings spring preload and damping adjustments dedicated to the fork legs apart: spring preload adjuster is on the left fork, compression and rebound damping regulator is in the right fork. All adjusters are located on top of the fork cap and is easily accessible from atas. The bottom-link Uni-Trak rear suspension features a new spring-shock 25mm longer at a lower rate, and a revised relationship with a higher lever ratio to rise more both in town and on the highway. Adjustments include spring preload rear shock, 25-position rebound damping, and stepless compression damping.
New one-piece ‘monobloc’ radial-mount Nissin brake calipers and a new 310mm petal-type rotors front helps provide outstanding braking power, with a great feel at the lever. A new lightweight rear brake caliper brake helps offer good performance fade-resistance and optimal rotor rear and squeezing 220mm petal-type. Rear master cylinder reservoir forward of the axle swingarm mount, to maximize the space around the footpeg. The rear brake pedal coaxially mounted with the footpeg, for excellent mid-stroke braking efficiency and optimum feel.
It all started with a motorcycle ABS units are compact and lightweight, one Bosch designed specifically with sportbikes in mind. KiBS is a multi-sensing system that collects and monitors a variety of data from the wheel speed sensors (the same gathering information for KTRC traction control system) and the ECU motor. Parameters to be monitored include: wheel speed, brake caliper pressure, engine rpm, throttle position, clutch actuation and gear what is being selected. The KiBS ABS ECU communicates with the engine ECU and crunches numbers, and when it senses a situation of potential lock-up, he told ABS unit to temporarily reduce brake pressure line, helping the wheel to regain traction. In addition to ultra-fast response time, it also offers a number of additional sport riding benefits, including rear-end lift suppression during braking hard, reducing kickback lever during ABS intervention, and increased rear brake control while downshifts. A high-precision pressure control unit allows the system to avoid reduced brake performance (unlike some less sophisticated systems) and maintain proper lever feel.
A one-piece front fender sleek offering excellent aerodynamic. New projector beam lights encased in the new housing looks sharp light features an integrated position. Signals a new front half-flush turn built into the new bodywork and compact rear turn signals complement the minimalist design of the tail. A new compact LED taillight light, very bright and offers a modern high-tech appearance. A “hugger” on fender swingarm helps to reduce aerodynamic turbulence and helps keep the undertail area clean.
The layout of the seat-peg-bar handlebars ergonomically placed close to the riders and at an angle that promotes the riding position is very intuitive and comfortable. Fuel tank cover raged around the top edge to provide a large contact patch and contributing to the feedback is excellent chassis. A narrow rear lightweight aluminum sub-frame and seat leading edge provide a high-performance sportbike position and effective slim up, and a shorter reach to the pavement.
Additional functions include LCD digital speedometer, odometer, dual trip meter, clock, instant fuel consumption and average coolant temperature, as well as a shift indicator, traction control and a low activity level fuel warning light. A large gear position indicator gives instant confirmation of numerical gear. A new mirror design offers improved rear visibility without increasing the overall width of the vehicle.
